Edward è un attore e cantante principale nella band indie rock dei The Filthy Youth. Ha frequentato le elementari alla scuola della chiesa di San Ippolito, mentre le medie ed il liceo alla Barcalay School di Stevenage. Ed stava per frequentare il North Herts college, quando ha girato il suo primo film: Complicità e sospetti diretto da Anthony Minghella. Ha studiato recitazione al National Youth Theatre a Londra; canta nella band inglese dei The Filthy Youth di cui fanno parte anche Benjamin Lewis Allingham, Jimmy Wright, Tom Bastiani e John Vooght. E' apparso in alcuni telefilm inglesi tra i quali Doctors, Casualty, e Afterlife. Al cinema ha preso parte a Complicità e sospetti, I figli degli uomini e Son of Rambow. Ed inizierà il 18 maggio 2008 le riprese del sequel di Donnie Darko intitolato S. Darko.
